Well, our story begins at Lake Martin when a boy travels from Atlanta and a girl travels from Birmingham to spend the weekend with friends...
The weekend starts with a rainy Friday night so we played some games, had a few drinks and flew a remote controlled helicopter inside - yes, you read that right. Ryan brought a remote controlled helicopter to the lake and I found it very amusing. The night ended with me taking the helicopter outside for a spin and crashing it out in the lake. After jumping in to find it, it was a lost cause and goodbye helicopter. We spent the rest of the weekend getting to know each other and said goodbye. The same group planned a weekend in Fairhope at Fish River the next weekend so we knew we would see each other again.
At the time I was working at Morgan Stanley and I was telling some of my coworkers the helicopter story and how I may like this guy but who knows after I crashed his toy. So, before I left for Fish River one of my coworkers gave me a helicopter she had given to her husband and it was still in the box. This 'copter was a huge upgrade for Ryan so I was excited to give it to him. We rang in Memorial Day with a fun weekend at Fish River and on our last day, I flew the helicopter and BOOM I smacked it right into a tree. Goodbye helicopter #2.
The weekend ends... boy goes back to Atlanta and girl goes back to Birmingham. We start dating long distance with lots of travel back and forth on lovely I-20.
6 months later, Ryan and some friends go back to the Lake Martin house in preparation for the awful 2013 Iron Bowl. It is November so the water level is low at the lake and what do they find washed up on the shore... the 1st helicopter!
We spend a year dating long distance.
Meredith gets a great job and moves to Atlanta.
And 4 years later, we are engaged!
Every one of our friends and family played a part in our relationship over the years and we are very excited to celebrate our marriage with each and every one of you!
